Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the vibration damping capacity of alloy, by annealing B2 type cobalt-iron base alloy in alpha phase, and then aging at a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:A cobalt-iron base alloy is adjusted, which contains 10 to 70 wt% cobalt and less than 10% tertiary element such as Mn, Cr, Ni, V, Ta, Nb, etc., and possesses regular-inrregular transformation temperatures, and is capable of forming B2 type (CsCl type) super lattice phase at less than transformation temperature. This alloy is annealed in phase alpha at more than 650 deg.C, and is aged in succession at super lattice growth temperature of 350 to 600 deg.C. By this treatment, the alloy is provided with excellent vibration damping capacity. Besides, since the characteristic is maintained under high magnetic flux density, the alloy may exhibit excellent effect as constituent material for machines and precision instruments subjected to large vibrations.
