Abstract
PURPOSE: Title lap in which dovetails on the bottom of needle plates are fitted in a U-shaped thin plate to form a laminate of needle plates and the laminates are inserted into grooves on the lap that is bored in the direction inclined toward that of cylinder rotation, thus improving combing action.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of needle plates 10 with needle edge 11 on the top and dovetail 14 on the bottom are inserted in a roughly U-shaped thin plate 15 to form a needle plate laminate. The laminates are inserted into a plurality of grooves 8 that are bored in the direction inclined toward that of the cylinder rotation to form half laps of combing cylinder. As the grooves 8 are bored in the direction of the cylinder rotation, needles do not come out. Since the dovetails are fitted to U-shaped plated, the damaged needle tops can be readily cut off.
