Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase frictional force thus multiplying plasticizing capacity by providing ragged grooves at the inner surface of a plasticizing cylinder as well as a cooling section at the outer surface of the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Tapered ragged grooves 3 is formed from an inlet 1 at the inner surface of a pasticizing cylinder 2. As a screw 6 rotates, a resin material is plasticized and mixed while it is transfered toward an outlet. The resin material charged in the groove of the screw 6 is cooled by a flange 5 that has cooling holes 4 at the outer surface of the cylinder 2. The plasticized molten resin is prevented from penetrating into the groove 3 so that high frictional force is kept all the time. Although the secrew 6 retructs after the plasticized resin has been stored in a screw head 9, it is desirable to select the length of a supplying section of the screw 6 being longer than the maximum stroke by 3 to 6 times of the diameter of the screw in order to increase plasticizing efficiency.
