Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove smut at low cost, by blowing a mixture of steam and water against smut, which is formed when alkaline fat-removal treating the surfaces of Al and an Al alloy, by high pressure.
CONSTITUTION: When anode film treating and chemical suythetic film treating for painting foundation the surfaces of the blanks in Al and an Al alloy, the surfaces are fat-removal treated by a caustic soda water solution as pre-treatment. In this case, Mg, Cu, Si, etc. in Al remain as smut in black films. The smut is removed by blowing a mixture of steam and water against the surfaces, on which smut is produced, by pressure in 5kg/cm2. Since smut is not removed with acid liquid as seen in conventional devices, parts obtained by combining the blank in Al and a blank in Fe can easily be used because the parts do not dissolve the blank in Fe even when the parts. This method eliminates the need for acid liquid itself and exhaust facilities, waste liquor disposal facilities, etc., and can remove smut at low cost.
