Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase output and improve working efficiency by applying discharge voltage to the radiation point of the focused laser beam. CONSTITUTION:Laser outputted continuously or in a pulselike manner from a laser oscillator 1 is changed of direction by a deflecting prism 2 and is condensed by a condensing lens 3, at the focus whereof it radiates the work 4. The discharge electrode 5 which is so disposed as to encircle the surrounding near this condensed beam is cooled by a cooling medium channel 51. Discharge is accomplished by continuous or pulselike voltage from a power source 6 between the discharge electrode 5 and the work 4. Then, the discharges generated by way of the charged particles produced by the laser at the radiation point of the laser of the work 4 give impact of high energy density to the radiation point, thereby accomplishing working such as heating, melting, welding and cutting.
