Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the dendriting resistance of separator and lengthen the life of cycle by using a nonwoven fabric-arranged composite separator on both sides of a three dimensional network fluorine-containing resin layer containing the fine powder of metal oxides, e.g., TiO2, etc. CONSTITUTION:A composite separator with the nonwoven fabric layers 2 and 3 of polyamide, polypropylene, etc., is provided on both sides of the three dimensional net work fibrous fluorine-containing resin layer 1 containing 80-40wt% one or more of TiO2, ZrO2, and HfO2 fine powders passing through a 200mesh sieve. The nonwoven fabric layer 2 used on the zinc negative electrode side has preferably a thickness of 0.1mm. or less and coarse pores, and also the nonwoven fabric layer 3 used on the positive electrode side has preferably a thickness of 0.1-1.0mm.. Thus, the dendriting resistance mechanical strength characteristics of the separator can be raised and the cycle characteristics of charge and discharge can be enhanced.
