Abstract
PURPOSE: To decompose a solid waste material such as urban garbages or the like in good heat efficiency by a method wherein a furnace itself is concurrently subjected to both operations of a pyrolysis and a combustion furnace without circulating a hot medium and the pyrolysis and the heating of said heat medium are alternately carried out in the same furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Two or more of furnaces having a heat medium in the interior thereof functioning as a pyrolysis furnace as well as a incinerator furnace are used and, in at least one furnace of each furnaces, air is supplied to carry out pyrolysis and formed chars are combusted to heat said heat medium. At the same time, in at least one furnace of other furnaces, a waste material is supplied without supplying air and the air supply, the gas exhaust and the waste material supply are carried out successively so as to thermally decompose by the heated heat medium and mutually switched to thermally decompose the waste material. For example, refractory bricks 3 of a heat medium are piled up within the furnace body 1, 1' in an arrangment so as to offset said bricks in each adjacent stage and arranged so as to drop a solid waste material supplied from an upper portion in a zigzag manner and a furnace having this constitution is provided in a mutually connected condition and used.
