Abstract

PURPOSE:To form zinc phosphate coating, which has lubricating property and is suitable for working, on the surface of corrosion resistant alloy steel, by immersing the metal to be treated in a chemical treating soln. of acid zinc phosphate to which has been added a chelating compound, and by subjecting the metal to cathodic electrolysis for a prescribed time, then by treating the metal in the same treating soln. CONSTITUTION:Corrosion resistant alloy steel such as SUSs 24, 25 is immersed in a chemical conversion treating soln. of acid zinc phosphate, contg. as principal component zinc primary phosphate to which is added a chelating compound such as malonic acid, if necessary with further addition of surfactant, inorg. or org. depolarizer, and is subjected to cathodic electrolysis by direct current (distance between electrodes about 5-30cm, current density about 0.2-30A/dm<2>, for about 10sec-30min) using above-described metal as a cathode and zinc plate or carbon plate etc. as an anode to form uniform coating of zinc phosphate having excellent adhesive property and lubricating property suitable for cold working of the alloy steel on the corrosion resistant alloy steel.
