PURPOSE:To contrive the achievement of the labor saving and the energy saving, by installing the continuous heating furnace and the continuous rolling apparatus in one pass line, by installing the splitting-continuously casting-carrying apparatus and the dummy bar holding apparatus in another pass line, and by switching these two pass lines using the change-over table. CONSTITUTION:At starting the casting work, the change-over table 8 is kept horizontal, and the dummy bar 15 is inserted under the bottomless casting mold 3 so as to form the bottom of the continuously cast billet. Then, the dummy bar 15 is pulled away, and the continuously cast billet is split by the splitter 7. After that, the change-over table 8 is kept to look upward, and the continuously cast billet 6 is directly introduced into the continuous heating furnace 12, and then, the billet 6 is rolled by the roll 13 of the continuous rolling apparatus. According to this method, the continuously cast billet 6 taken out of the continuous casting machine can be directly introduced into the furnace 12 without passing the installation space of the dummy bar holding apparatus 16, so that the heat energy can be greatly saved. Besides, the billet can be taken away as the split continuously cast billet 6.
