Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently carry out the removal of methanol and recovery of metal salts, by removing methanol after adding water to the electrolyte and separating the oil layer from the water layer and then, recovering metal salts by adding ester to the water layer.
CONSTITUTION: Adipic acid and methanol are supplied from the supply opening 1 to the dissolution vessel 2 and adipic acid monomethylester is obtained from the upper part of the distilling column 8 by reacting adipic acid with methanol. Next, the above ester is sent to the electrolytic tank 12 and methanol extracted from the upper part of the distilling column 14 and solution of adipic acid monoethylester extracted from the lower part of the recovery column 20 which is contained potassium salt of adipic acid monomethylester, are fed. Then, electrolytic condensation is carried out in the electrolytic bath 13 maintaining water concentration of the above solution at 0.15W3wt% and sebacic acid dimethylester is formed. Moreover, methanol is removed by distilling at the column 14 after adding water from the supply opening 21 and mixed solution of oil and water, is extracted from the lower part of the column and then, sebacic acid methylester is obtained from the oil layer and also also, alkali metal is recovered by adding adipic acid monomethylester to the water layer.
