Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform correct controlling of sludge treating temperture by detecting the concentration of the methane produced along with thermal decomposition of sludge and controlling the specified control quantity by the detected value thereof.
CONSTITUTION: In a current controller 9, the specified current according to the methane gas concentration detected value inputted is inputted via circuit 10 to an electrode control unit 11. The electrode control unit 11 controls an electrode elevator 12 according to this to move electrodes 2A, 2B, 2C upward or down, whereby these electrodes are controlled in the specified positions. Further, from the current controller 9, a tap changeover device 14 is controlled via circuit 13 according to the methane gas concentration detected value. The tap changeover device 14 then changes over the taps 15A of the primary side of a transformer 15, whereby the voltage of the secondary side is controlled. The treating temperature is maintained at the specified value by limiting the positions of the electrodes 2A, 2B, 2C and the voltage applied to the electrodes 2A, 2B, 2C according to the methane gas concentration.
