Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a resin composition with excellent mechanical and physical properties comprising an acrylic block copolymer obtained by polymerizing in the presence of a specific redox colalyst and a methyl methacrylate type polymer.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of a redox catalyst comprising a peroxide shown by the formula [wherein R1, R2 are H methyl, ethyl; each cychohexanone ring has there or less of alkyl (methyl, ethyl); R' is H, hydroxyl group] and a reducing compound which promotes the decomposition of a hydroperoxide group of said peroxide but hardly promotes the decomposition of its ketone peroxide group, 100pts. of a monomer mixture of 50W100wt% of a 1'12C alkyl-containing alkyl acrylate (a) and 50W0wt% of a vinyl or vinylidene compound other than (a) is polymerized and, subsequently, an obtained polymer is polymerized with 20W400pts.wt. of a mixture comprising 50W100wt% of methyl methacrylate and 50W0wt% of a monomer to prepare a block copolymer (A). This block copolymer 0.5W70pts.wt. is mixed with 99.5W30pts.wt. of a methyl methacrylate type polymer to obtain a resin composition.
