Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the deflection system of a beam of electrons by guiding the electron beams emitted from a cathode into the tri-electrode system consisting of the first, second, the third grids and varying the electrode length of the second grid. CONSTITUTION:The electron beams 6 emitted from the cathode 4 pass through the first, second, and third grids 1, 2, and 3 and produce the light emitting spot D1 on the fluorescent screen 5. When the electrode length l2 of the second gride exceeds the bore of the electrode, the electron lens consisting of the second and third grids 2 and 3 functions as an exceedingly strong bipotential lens whose voltage ratio is N. When the electrode length arrives at l3, the electron beams 6 are focussed on the front 10 of the fluorescent screen 5. After that, an angle of emanation increases and the larger over-focussed light emitting spot D3 is obtained on the fluorescent screen. By varying the axial length l0 of the second gride electrode, the necessary light emitting spot diameter can be obtained on the fluorescent screen without decreasing the voltage of the fuoresent screen.
