Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the using rate of discharging by using cobalt powder obtained by thermal decomposition of cobalt carbonyl compound as cobalt powder in nickel electrode made by adding cobalt powder to nickel hydroxide powder.
CONSTITUTION: By kneading a mixture of nickel hydroxide and electroconductive powder like nickel or cobalt powder and aqueous solution of carboxymethyl cellulose as a bonding agent, material like paste is obtained. By filling this material in core material like spongy nickel porous sheet, nickel electrodes are obtained. As cobalt powder for these electrodes is used cobalt powder of particle diameters of 1∼20μ which is obtained by thermal decomposition of cobalt carbonyl compound (Co2C8O8). Two to eight weight percentage of said mixture is suitable for the content of this cobalt powder.
