CONSTITUTION: In the electro-coloring element which is constituted by sandwiching an ion conductive material layer between the electro-coloring material layer composed of transition metal oxides provided on transparent electrodes and a counter electrode, the above-mentioned ion conductive layer is made to a thickness of about 0.01W10μ and is formed by vacuum evaporation or sputtering of ionic macromolecular material. Perfluorosulfonic acid, polyacrylic acid or formaldehyde resin is used for the ionic macromolecular material.
