Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the weight of an electrode plate and make its manufacture easier, by filling a paste in a spacing between thin plates made of lead or a lead alloy are forming needle-like apertures through the thin plates to push the thin walls into the paste. CONSTITUTION:Between two thin plates 3 made of lead or a lead alloy, is filled by means of a feeding rolls 4 paste 1 obtained by milling lead powder and sulfuric acid and stoved in a hopper 2. After pressing the paste-filled electrode plates by means of pressing rolls 5, the thickness of the electrode plate is adjusted by rolls 6 arranged to adjust the thickness. Thereafter, a number of aperture 8 are formed through the electrode plates 3 by means of a pressing machine 7 equipped with a number of needles. Here, the thin electrode plates 3 penetrate into the paste 1 at locations corresponding the apertures 8, thereby uniting the paste 1 and thin plates 3 together.
