Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce power for a centrifugal compressor to a great extent by regulating the capacity of the centrifugal compressor by means of the operation of a bypass regulating valve above a bypass pipe from a suction regulating valve and a discharge side to a suction side or a discharge regulating valve on the discharge side.
CONSTITUTION: In cases where the flow rate passing through the compressor body is greater than the flow rate F1 determined by the minimum opening degree of a suction regulating valve, as in the case of the conventional control, or than the flow rate F2 determined by the minimum opening degree of the suction regulating valve 5, as in the case of the control under this invention, it is within the controllable range of the suction regulating valve 5 and therefore coincides with the amount of delivery. In cases where the flow rate is smaller than F1 or F2, however, it is within the controllable range of the bypass regulating valve 4 and becomes constant regardless of the amount of delivery. When replacing the amount passing through the compressor with a power from a relation between the amount passing through the compressor and the power, the power in the control under this invention can be lowered down to the broken line shown in the diagram, as compared with the full line, also as shown in the same diagram, in the case of the conventional control method. Thus, the power can be reduced to a great extent.
