Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve seizing resistance of parts or mold which is used at high temp. so as to improve their service durability, by forming boron nitride layer on the surface of the parts or mold. CONSTITUTION:Slidable parts, bearing, or mold used at high temp. for glass industry, die casting, or plastic industry is set in a vacuum vessel at about 0.1 Torr. Nitrogen, boron hydride (B2H6) and hydrogen are introduced into the vacuum vessel to 10 Torr, and glow discharge is produced using the mold etc. as a cathode, and the vessel as an anode, hereby boron nitride layer is formed on the surface of the product by the diffusion of nitrogen and boron. The boron nitride layer permits to improve the seizing resistance and durability of the mold etc.
