Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain uniform ferrite fine grain powder with high sinter-ability by mixing Mn, Zn and Fe alkoxides out of metal alkoxides represented by M(OR)n; hydrolyzing the mixture to form cubic system spinel ferrite of a specified grain size; and heating the grains to a restricted temp.
CONSTITUTION: Mn, Zn, and Fe alkoxides out of metal alkoxides represented by M(OR)n (where M is a mono- to pentavalent metal and R is alkyl) are mixed. The alkoxides include Mn(C2H5O)2, Zn(C2H5O)2 and Fe(C3H7O)3. The mixture is then hydrolyzed to form cubic system spinel ferrite with a grain size of 0.1μm or less, and the grains are heated at 800°C or below, preferably 400W600°C. Thus, cubic system spinel ferrite with a grain size of 0.1μ or less and high sinter-ability is obtd. It is advantageously used in manufacture of high-density sintered ferrite for a magnetic head material, etc.
