Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate operation of a large-sized outboard engine by introducing oil hydraulic system to the tilting process using a trim cylinder to turn the outboard engine in a minute extent and a tilting cylinder to lift it to a large extent upward.
CONSTITUTION: A trim cylinder 8 mounted substantially horizontally between a clamp bracket 3 and a support arm 6, turns the support arm 6 in the same direction as the clamp shaft 4 by its stretching action, and thus turns the outboard engine in an extent of l1. A tilting cylinder 11 is mounted substantially vertically between the support arm 6 and a swivel bracket 5 to tilt the outboard engine to an extent of l2 by its stretching action. As this tilting cylinder can be held inoperable by means of a solenoid operated valve, the actions of both cylinders can be controlled by a single oil-hydraulic piping system and the trim cylinder operates horizontally, so that even a heavy outboard engine can be tilted by a small tilting cylinder.
