Abstract
PURPOSE: To facilitate the manual adjustment of control pressure, by conducting supercharging pressure for controlling a valve unit, to a pressure chamber on the side of a connecting rod coupled to the flexible diaphragm of a pressure unit and providing a spring in another pressure chamber opposite the former pressure chamber.
CONSTITUTION: Since supercharger pressure from an inlet pipe 65 is relatively low in a low-load run, the pressure cannot repulse the set force of a spring 33 and a hold-down plate 57 is in tight contact with the end face of the inserted part of a seal member 61. When the supercharger pressure rises due to the increase in the load and rotational frequency of an engine, a flexible diaphragm 51 is actuated together with a connecting rod 30 to control a valve unit to provided a prescribed exhaust bypass. Since the spring 33 is housed in a pressure chamber 34 to which the atmospheric pressure acts and which is located opposite a supercharging pressure chamber 32 surrounding the connecting rod 30, the force of the spring can be manually easily adjusted by an adjusting screw 59 and a lockup nut 60. This results in facilitating the adjustment and selection of exhaust bypass operation starting pressure.
