Abstract

PURPOSE:To accomplish coupling ot two shafts with ease and promptly, by forming at an end portion of one turning shaft a tapered portion the outer diameter of which is decreased gradually toward the end face, and similarly forming at an end portion of the other turning shaft a tapered portion the inner diameter of which is increased gradually toward the end face, so that these two tapered portions are coupled tightly with each other. CONSTITUTION:Duplex shaft 30 consists of a hollow turning shaft 34 and a slide shaft 36 fitted in the hollow shaft 34 in freely slidable manner. At an end portion of the turning shaft 34, there is formed a tapered portion 44, the outer diameter of which is decreased gradually from its flange 42 toward end face 38. On the other hand, another duplex shaft 32 consists of a hollow turning shaft 34a and a slide shaft 36a fitted therein. The turning shaft 34a has an end portion the end face 56 of which is defined by flange 54 formed with bolt holes 52. At the end portion of turning shaft 34a, there is formed a tapered portion 58 the inner diameter of which is increased gradually toward the end face 56. In coupling these two duplex shafts together, slide shaft 36a is at first inserted into turning shaft 34, and duplex shaft 32 is shifted toward another duplex shaft 30 until flange 54 of shaft 34a comes into abutment with flange 42 of shaft 34.
