Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase an effective data volume which can be transmitted within a unit time, by transmitting data without addition of information for error control in respect to long data of a long data length where error is allowable. CONSTITUTION:Transmission data from input terminal 11 is stored in transmission data buffer 12 temporarily, and short data, for example, below IKB is transmitted as it is, and long data is transmitted while being segmented by 4KB. Transmission data length decision circuit 15 decides whether error is allowable or not on the basis of the data length transmitted from buffer 12; and if error is allowable, circuit 15 performs control so that information FCS17 for error control cannot be added after transmission data, and transmission data is transmitted to error retransmission circuit 18 as it is. Meanwhile, receiving data length decision circuit 25 decides whether error is allowable or not on the basis of receiving data of 4KB or more or less and a data receiving end signal is transmitted to the transmission side. If error is not allowable, a retransmission request signal is transmitted to the transmission side when error is detected.
