Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Tetra(8-hydroxyquinolyl)porphines of the formula (R is 2-, 4-, 5-, 6- or 7-substituted 8-hydroxyquinolyl group) and their metal complexes.
EXAMPLE: meso-Tetra-[5-(8-hydroxyquinolyl)]porphine.
USE: They are suitable for labeling bodies bearing cancers with gammer-emitter and useful as intermediate of scintiscanner.
PREPARATION: For example, equimolar amounts of pyrrole and 5-formyl-8-quinoline are refluxed in a solvent such as propionic acid for about 1.5hr. After the solvent is distilled off, the residue is washed with water and dried, extracted with a solvent to obtain the exampled compound among those of the formula.
