Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover molybdenum from liquid which contains molybdenum and a minor amount of vanadium by treating with a weakly acidic anion-exchange resin in the form of a free salt.
CONSTITUTION: A weakly basic anion-exchange resin, e.g. Amberlite IRA-94, is preliminarily treated with an about 0.5W1N acid e.g. sufuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., to form a salt-type ion exchange resin, which is used. Liquid which contains molybdenum (Mo) and a minor amount of vanadium (V) is adjusted to pH7 or less, preferably 3W5, and passed through the above ion-exchange resin to permit Mo and V to be adsorbed by the resin. Next, liquid containing an alkali equivalent needed to elute the total amount of the adsorbed Mo is prepared. The liquid is divided into a part (about 50W80%) and the remainder, and each is sequentially passed through the above resin to elute the adsorbed materials. Mo is recovered from the first eluate.
