Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover molybdenum from liquid which contains it by treating with a weakly basic anion-exchange resin in the form of a free salt.
CONSTITUTION: A weakly basic anion-exchange resin, e.g. Amberlite IRA-94, is preliminarily treated with an about 0.5W1N acid, e.g. sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc., to form a salt-type ion-exchange resin, which is used. Liquid which contains molybdenum (Mo) is adjusted to pH7 or less, preferably 3W5, and passed through the above ion-exchange resin to permit Mo to be adsorbed by the resin. Next, an aqueous alkaline solution, e.g. aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, ammonia, etc., is passed through the above resin to elute Mo. The obtained eluate is made weakly acidic to recover Mo as molybdic acid.
