Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the function of a small-sized bipolar double throw type switch by using a both-side reflecting plate. CONSTITUTION:Guide groove 11b is cut in substrate 11 having upper triangular grooves 111a-114a and central square bottomed hollow 11a of a suitable depth, and electromagnetic actuator 7 is placed in substrate 11. Lenses 21-24 and optical fibers 31-34 are set in grooves 111a-114a, and both-side reflecting plate 4 is set in groove 11b together with spring 5 and connected to actuator 7 through rod 6. When actuator 7 is magnetized, plate 4 enters hollow 11a along groove 11b to optically couple fibers 31, 32 and fibers 32, 34. On the other hand, when actuator 7 is demagnetized, plate 4 returns to groove 11b to optically couple fibers 31, 32 or fibers 32, 34.
