Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of the seizure and abrasion of the pinch roll at the position contacting the strip edge, and to improve the durability of the pinch roll, by feeding the lubricant oil to the position contacting the strip edge on the outer surface of the pinch roll. CONSTITUTION:Under the condition that the locating interval of the oil sprays 4, 4, on both sides of the pinch roll is adjusted correspondingly to breadth of the strip A being carried by upper and lower pinch rolls 2, 3, the lubricant oil is applied to the outer surface of the pinch 2 at the position contacting the strip edge, at the same time as the travel of the strip A. By thus applying the lubricant oil, the part contacting the strip edge on both sides of the upper pinch roll 2, is made extremely slippery against the strip A, so that generation of the friction between the strip edge and the upper pinch roll 2 is prevented more thoroughly as compared with the strip's middle part. As a result, the generation of seizure and abrasion of the pinch roll at the position corresponding to both side edges of the strip A can be prevented without hindering the carrying function of the upper and lower pinch rolls 2, 3.
