Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve detection accuracy by controlling the gain of the amplifying circuit of the stage next to the detector. CONSTITUTION:A gain adjusting circuit 14 is connected to the amplifying circuit 12 of the stage next to a detector 10 which detects the state of photoreceptor surface. Then, when the start switch of the copying machine body is pushed, a drift compensating circuit 13 operates to compensate the drift amount of the detector 10 and amplifying circuit 12, after which the detector 10 and amplifier 12 are operated then the reflected light of the photoreceptor surface which is not exposed and developed is detected by the detector 10 and is inputted to the gain adjusting circuit 14 through the amplifying circuit 12, thus the always fixed output irrespective of the stains, etc. of the detector 10 is outputted to the amplifying circuit 12, whereby the gain is controlled. Hence, the detection of the toner image may be accomplished always under the same conditions and the detection accuracy is improved.
