Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyoxyalkylene polyether having improved heat resistance and weather resistance, by carrying out partial addition reaction of an organohydrogenpolysiloxane and a polyoxyalkylene polyether in the presence of platinum.
CONSTITUTION: In the presence of platinum or a platinum compound partial addition reaction is carried out between (A) an organohydrogenpolysiloxane represented by the average composition formula I, wherein R' is a monovalent hydrocarbon group; a is in the range: 0.1≤a≤2, b is in the range: 0.1≤b≤2 and a+b satisfies the inequalities: 1≤a+b≤3, and having, per molecule, at least two hydrogen atoms directly bonded to the silicon atom, and (B) a polyoxyalkylene polyether having, at molecular chain terminal, an unsaturated group represented by the formula II, wherein R2 is a bivalent hydrocarbon group and n is 0 or 1. The polyoxyalkylene polyether having a hydrogen-containing organopolysiloxane linkage at the chain terminal thus produced is further hydrolyzed to convert the Si-H bond into an Si- OH bond. The resulting product is relatively stable and easy to handle.
