Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an alloyed Zn-plated high tensile steel sheet with superior workability at a low cost by plating a high tensile steel sheet material with Zn; heating the plated material to a specified temp. range to alloy the Zn; and cooling it to 300°C or below at a critical cooling rate or more.
CONSTITUTION: A high tensile steel slab contg. C 0.005W0.20wt% and Mn 0.3W 2.5wt% is hot rolled and coiled. This hot coil is descaled, cold rolled, and plated with Zn by galvanizing or electroplating. The plated sheet is then heated to a temp. from the Ac1 transformation point to the Ac3 transformation point to accelerate alloying as well as concentrate C in the r-phase, and it is rapidly cooled to 300°C or below at a critical cooling rate of CR°C/sec (equation I) or more determined according to the compsn. Thus, an alloyed Zn-plated high tensile steel sheet having ferrite-martensite two-phase mixed structure and exhibiting superior workability is cheaply manufactured with a smaller amt. of alloying elements.
