Abstract
PURPOSE:A novel variant KE-303 capable of producing anthracycline.glycoside, preparation of the variant, and preparation of anthracycline-glycoside using the same. CONSTITUTION:An aclacinomycin-producing strain, Streptomyces galilaeus MA- 144-MI (FERM-P No.2455) is subjected to a conventional mutagenic treatment, e.g. the NTG treatment, to obtain a novel variant KE-303 strain (FERM-P No.4808) lack in anthracyline pigment-producing capability and capable of producing anthracycline.glycoside from anthracyclinone. The variant is inoculated in a nutrient medium containing anthracyclinone, and cultured to accumulate the objective anthracycline-glycoside in the medium.
