Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a solid lubricating slide unit with an excellent strength and slide characteristic, by intruding a carbon fiber-filled thermosetting resin into a surface layer of a metallic substrate, and forming a slide surface, consisting of said thermosetting resin, and the metallic substrate into an integral unit.
CONSTITUTION: Grooves 1 of a mesh pattern are formed in a metallic substrate 2. A carbon fiber-filled thermosetting resin, that is, a resin-impregnated cloth 4 formed into a semi-hardened state by impregnating a thermosetting resin like epoxy resin, phenol resin, etc. into a carbon fiber like cloth, cloth stripes or short filaments and the like, is cut into a pattern engageable with the groove 1 and contained in the groove 1. Then a plurality of the impregnated cloth 4 of the same pattern as the substrate 2 is piled up until it becomes equivalent to a required thickness for the molded product. Under this condition, the metallic substrate 2, to which the impregnated cloth 4 is assembled together, is inserted into a metal mold 3, thermally molded at, for instance, a temperature of 160° to finally complete a desired slide unit.
