Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the position error between a cutting tool carriage and a slide in a machine tool due to coulomb friction occurred therebetween by supporting via a hydraulic bearing the slide at the base of the carriage (boring tool). CONSTITUTION:The hydrostatic (hydrostatic pad type) mechanism of the slide of a cutting tool carriage 1 consists of a high pressure oil passage 9, a sliding surface holder 10, a throttle 11, and an oil reservoir 12. Oil of high hydraulic pressure Ps is introduced through the passage 9 and the throttel 11 into the oil reservoir 12 of the holder 10. A gap is formed via an oil film of the pressure Pc between the sliding surface of the carriage 1 and the holder 10 to thereby eliminate the contact between the solid components, thereby forming hydrostatially supporting a load. Since the load is hydrostatically supported, no coulomb friction occurs when sliding the carriage 1. Accordingly, according to this configuration, the position error due to the coulomb friction may be eliminated between the carriage and the holder.
