Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate organic amines easily to ones usable directly in hydrodehalogenation reaction by the procedure in which nonaqueous solution containing organic amine-hydrogen halide is put in a cathode compartment provided with a diaphragm for electrolysis.
CONSTITUTION: A nonaqueous solution of an organic amine-hydrogen halide salt, e.g., ethylenediamine hydrochloric acid salt, etc., in a nonaqueous solvent, e.g., acetonitrile, etc., is put in the cathode compartment of an electrolytic bath provided with a diaphragm, and also water, phosphoric acid, or an organic solvent comparatively inactive to halogen is put in the anode compartment of the electrolytic bath. Then, electrolysis is performed under the conditions of an usual bath voltage of 3W15V, a current density of 1A/dm2 or more, and a reaction temperature of 0W 100°C. The diaphragm used is the usual type resin membrane or an anion exchange membrane. Thus, as well as organic amine, a high purity of halogen and H2 can be obtained as by-products.
