Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I [R1,2 are H, -CH2-S-C(O)R3; R3 is alkyl or aryl, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 is not H].
EXAMPLE: 3-Acetylthiomethyl-5-fluorouracil.
USE: Carcinostatic agent.
PROCESS: Reaction of a compound II (X1,2 are H or chloromethyl, provided that at least one of X1,2 is not H) with a thiocarboxylic acid III affords the objective compound I. It is preferable to remove the hydrochloric acid produced by the reaction by adding a base such as triethylamine to the reaction system.
