Abstract

PURPOSE: To use a computer in forming radiographic pictures of selected planes of a human body rectangular to the body axis, etc., thereby improving the picture quality of only the specified picture-taking region.
CONSTITUTION: X-ray tubes 1 and 2 are supported, so that they will rotate on two circumferential loci 11 and 21 having different redii respectively, and emit radiation beams with prescribed sweepa towards their center of rotation. In the case of taking a full length picture, X-rays are reflected only from X-ray tube 2 in the general picture taking mode, and pictures are taken in the real zoom mode by radiation of X-rays from both X-rays tubes 1 and 2. Consequently, the quantity of X-ray irradiated on object 3 increases compared with the case of using only one X-ray tube, thereby improving accuracy of the picture taken. The focussion point of X-ray tube 1 is made smaller; and consequently, beam elements become finer and resolution of the picture also improve. In the precision mode of taking the picture of a head, X-ray beams from both X-ray tubes 1 and 2 pass through the object, thereby increasing the quantity of X-rays and improving the accuracy of the picture. In this way, various modes can be easily selected by turning ON/OFF X-ray tubes 1 and 2.
