Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title plasticizer having improved acid value, color and heat resistance without purification, by reacting a polycarboxylic acid with a polyhydric alcohol and a terminator, using a specific catalyst and an additive at a specified temperature, and by fittering off the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A raw material of a polycarboxylic acid, a polyhydric alcohol, and a terminator, is incorporated with (B) about 0.05W0.5 wt.% of a catalyst consisting of one or mor types of compounds, e.g. hydroxides of alkali (earth) metals, such as caustic soda or potassium hydroxide, metallic oxides, such as zinc oxide, metal carbonates, such as sodium carbonate, silica, protonic acid, such as phosphonic acid, supported on a carrier, such as silica, and (C) about 0.001W0.05 wt.% of a hypophosphorous acid or its salt, and heated to about 150W160°C slowly, then at a heating rate of about 10°C/hr. Ester interchange is carried out at 100W 260°C, and the catalyst is filtered off after the completion of the reaction.
