Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure accurately thermal resistances of various transistors within the broad measurement temperature range by providing a constant-current supply supplying a fine current to the base of a Darlington transistor to be tested and collector power supply circuit which can be detached freely. CONSTITUTION:The Darlington transistor to be tested consists of prior-stage transistor 12 with parasitic resistance 16 between its base and emitter and output-stage transistor 14. For the purpose of measuring the thermal resistance of this transistor, constant-current supply 22 composed of power supply 18, thermal resistance 20 is provided between emitters of transistors 12 and 14, and base power supply 26 is connected in parallel to power supply 22 via the 1st auxiliary transistor 24. In addition, the emitter of transistor 24 is connected to that of the 2nd auxiliary transistor 28 and collector power supply 30 is provided between collectors of transistors 28 and 10. In this way, forward voltage drop DELTAVBE of transistor 10 and power consumption P are found, thereby preforming the calculation according to the equation.
