Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the entering of water into a runner boss and the flowing out of lubricating oil into rivers by providing a concave groove inside the runner boss of the packing device for a runner and collecting leaked oil or water in the groove for draining to a collecting tank.
CONSTITUTION: Usually, the flowing out of the lubricating oil from a hollow trunk part 9 to the outside and the entering of water into a runner boss la are prevented by packings 7b and 7d. When the packing 7b is worn out, leaked lubricating oil is issued into a concave groove 10 and drained through flow passages 11 and 12 into a collecting tank 14 from a nozzle 13. It cannot be, therefore, leaked into the runner boss la through the packing 7b.
