Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve deflection sensitivity by making the cylinder electrode at a deflecting-board side nearly equal to the potential at the deflection center and lower than that of dome meshes by forming a convex lens with the cylindrical electrode inserted between the 2nd deflecting board and the dome mesh electrode.
CONSTITUTION: Between horizontal deflecting board 7 and dome mesh electrode 8, cylindrical acceleration electrodes 13 and 14 are inserted, and operated while potentials V13 and V14 are set nearly to the deflecting center potential and the potential of electrode 8 respectively with V13 less than V14. In this constitution, the deterioration of pattern distortion as a CRT, deflection linearity and the evenness in the fluorescent-screen region of a spot due to the speherical aberration of the convex lens of electrodes 13 and 14 are corrected by forming the reverse spherical aberration by the shape of electrode 8 by the convex lens made of electrodes 8 nd 9. Further, the deflecting center potential can be lowered in comparison with a conventional method, so that the polarization sensitivity can be improved.
