Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the strength, by alternately combining waved surfaces with flat surfaces in a header and supporting the flat surfaces of high-pressure fluid passages by the wave crest parts of low-pressure fluid passages.
CONSTITUTION: Heat transfer plates 16 which have central heat transfer parts having waved surfaces 14 and have flat header surfaces 15 at both the ends, and other heat transfer plates 19 which have central waves surfaces 17 having the same phase as the waved surfaces 14 of the heat transfer plates 16 but having a larger length than the waved surfaces 14 and have small flat surfaces at both the ends are alternately juxtaposed with one another. As a result, the waved surfaces and the flat surfaces are alternately combined with one another in the header 20. Since high pressure fluid is caused to flow through header passages wherein the flat surfaces are out of contact with the crests of the waved surfaces and low pressure fluid is caused to flow through header passages wherein the flat surfaces are in contact with the troughs of the waved surfaces, the pressure-resisting property of the header is improved.
