Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate a storage tank and to reduce the size of a marine clarifying tank by arranging a settling chamber at the center of an aeration chamber, the outlet of an exhaust pipe in the same plane as the settling chamber, and forming the settling tank in lower conical shape.
CONSTITUTION: Sewage flown through a sewage inlet pipe is pulverized via injected air from a vent pipe 19e with a screen. The sewage is turned to be agitated by the air injected from an aeration diffuser pipe 14 arranged at the bottom of a settling tank 9 for activated sludge treatment thereat. Then, the sewage is removed from solid content through a screen 7, and is introduced through an inlet pipe into a settling chamber 10, where the precipitate in the sewage is sunk as sludge. The sewage is thus decomposed to allow clarified water to be fed through an outlet pipe 13 into a sterilizing chamber 12. Since the bottom of the tank 9 is formed in conical shape, it prevent the sludge from accumulating at the bottom to thereby eliminate the necessity of special storage tank.
