Abstract

PURPOSE: A polyalkylene ether terminated with isocyanate groups is allowed to react with an amino compound bearing amide groups, followed by treatment with an aldehyde to yield novel resin for fiber processing that imparts flexibility and draping properties to fibers.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction between a polyalkylene ether with a molecular weigth of 200W4000 and more than 20 wt% of propylene oxide unit content and an organic diisocyanate such as 2,4-tolylenediisocyanate is conducted in a proportion of 1 OH/1.2W2.5 NCO. Then a primary or secondary amine bearing amide groups such as ethylamine acrylamide is made to act on the above produce at a NH/NCO ratio of 1/0.9W1.5 and finally they are treated with an aldehyde such as formaldehyde to produce the objective resin for fiber processing.
EFFECT: The touch of cellulose fibers is improved without any adverse effect on dye fastness.
