Abstract

PURPOSE: Molten slag from blast furnces and others is made into granules and brought into contact with pulverized or granulated coal in a reaction furnace to produce readily inexpensive fuel gases of high energy.
CONSTITUTION: Molten slag flows down from slag pan 1 through turn dish 2 and tray 3 and is blown from the tail of tray 3 with jetting air 4a into revolving drum 5 to form granulated slag 7, which is stored in hopper 6a. Then the granulated slag is sent through bell 11 into slag tank 8 and a certain amount of hightemperature slag is charged into reaction furnace 9. At the same time, a necessary amount of pulverized or granulated coal is sent from a plurality of coal tanks 16 into the reaction furnace and steam is also charged from boiler 22. Porduced gases including CO, H2, N2 and so on are sucked with blower 19, subjected to dedusting in cyclon 17 and heat exchanging in heat exchanger 18, cleaned in dust collector 20 and stored in tank 21.
