Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain styrene with high selectivity, and high conversion ratio and yield, by catalytic oxidation and delydrogenation of 4-vinylcyclo-hexene in the gaseous phase in the presence of a novel multicomponent catalyst having improved activity.
CONSTITUTION: 4-vinylcyclohexene is cataltically oxidized and dehydrogenated in the gaseous phase with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a multicomponent catalyst consisting of tin, antimory, iron, and oxygen as essential components, which may be supported on a carrier, at 250W600°C under atmospheric pressure at a space velocity of 10,000W100 hr-1 to give styrene. Preferably, Sb2O3, SbCl3, etc. may be used as the starting material for the Sb component of the catalyst; SnO2, tin oxalate, etc., as the tin component; and iron oxide, iron nitrote, as the iron component. The catalyst is obtained by uniformly inrorporating and integrating these components. The ratios of atoms in the catalyst is Sn:Sb:Fe:=10: 1W100:0.01W50.
EFFECT: Reduced by-product formation, a small amount of diluent gas. Concentrated raw material gas can be used.
