Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable temperature to be optically detected by constituting a temperature sensing head with a capsule whose inside wall is coated with a reversible thermocolor paint and using this and optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:A temperature sensing head 1 is constituted by making the bottom plate 13 of a capsule 11 having vent holes 12 with a good heat conductor anc coating a reversible thermo-color paint 14 on the inside wall thereof. Two optical fibers 2, 3 with their ends being opposed to the reversible thermo-color paint 14 are mounted to the temperature sensing head 1 and the other ends of the optical fibers 2, 3 are optically coupled with a light emitting diode 4 and a photo diode 5 respectively. The light of the light emitting diode 4 is sent into the capsule 11 and the reflected light from the reversible thermo-color paint 14 is detected with the photo diode 5. When the temperature sensing head 1 is contacted to the position to be measured, the thermo-color paint 14 discolors owing to temperature change, hence the detection outputs of the photo diode 5 changes and therefore temperature measurement is made possible from this.
