Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent formation of errosion from solid particles coming from a nozzle by covering the rear end portion of a nozzle plate, which might otherwise be liable to form the errosion, with boride.
CONSTITUTION: The covering area of boride is sufficient to be at the vapor outlet end 5C of the vapor passage of a nozzle plate and at a portion extending from the front to the rear side of the nozzle plate. The portion left uncoated is masked, and the nozzle plate is dipped in a graphite crusible, which is filled with boride anhydride, so that it may be coated with the boride by the melting electlytic method. In this meanwhile, the quenching and annealing treatments are sinulataneously accomplished to restore the strength of a mother material. By the coating of boride, the solid particles colliding are sacttered to prevent the cutting actions and elastic deformation of the surface. Moreover, there is no gradient in hardness of the coating layer so that no diffusion of the coating layer takes place even after a long use, thereby to prevent reduction in hardness
