Abstract

PURPOSE: Two kinds of copolymers of specific acrylonitrile contents respectively are spun into sheath-core type conjugate fibers, which are drawn under specific conditions to produce title fibers with stability retaining form under heat moisture and good spinnability and dyeability.
CONSTITUTION: Sheath-core conjugate fiber yarns are made by using two kinds of copolymers, the one copolymer from 85W95 mole % of acrylonitrile and other vinyl monomer as the sheath component and the other copolymer from 97, preferably 98 mole % or more acrylonitrile as the core component and employing spinnerets for sheath-core conjugate spinning. Resulting yarns are heat drawn in the range of 5W8 draw ratio and dried to form densified fibers. The relaxation rate on drying is preferably 10W30%. Then the second drawing is effected at a ratio of 1.0W1.4, preferably 1.1W1.4 to develop good form-retaining stability under heat moisture
