Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable optical fiber end face to be cut at a desired angle by relatively rotating an optical fiber and a blade, and relatively moving these in the axial direction then giving a score to the fiber along the line of intersection of the desired cut face and the outside circumferential face of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The central aixs 4 of the optical fiber 1 on a guide 7 and the central axis 10 of an optical fiber supporting rotator 8 mutually deviate and the central axis 10 of the optical fiber supporting rotator 8 and the central axis 9 of the optical fiber 1 fixed in the supporting rotator 8 deviate as well. When a blade 3 is applied onto the optical fiber 1 and the supporting rotator 8 is rotated one round, the axial movement occuring in the eccentricity is caused, by which a score is given on the outside circumferential surface of the optical fiber 1 by having a certain angle of inclination. Next, the fixing plate 11 of the supporting rotator 8 is released, and a clamp 17 is firmly tightened to apply tensile stress to the optical fiber 1 in its axial direction, whereby it is cut by having the angle of inclination.
